Turning west toward the Atlantic, the route traverses the sweeping desert plains of Aus, home to the legendary desert wild horses, reaching the coast near Lüderitz. Step back in time at Kolmanskop, a once-wealthy diamond-mining town now entirely abandoned to the desert. From the coast, head north into the heart of the ancient Namib Desert at Sesriem, the gateway to Sossusvlei, home to some of the highest sand dunes in the world.
